Building a No Kill Nation One Stray at a Time
  Volume 3 Issue 4 - April 2008

Important Follow Up

Dear Friend of SCA:

Malibu7As you know, 2 months ago (read about it here) we rescued 41 cats from a horrific hoarding situation.  While one cat didn’t survive, we’re happy to report that the others have all rebounded.

DrEBut because these animals came from such deplorable living conditions, most have required extensive medical care – surgeries, blood work and treatment for infections and other illnesses, as well as considerable dental care. This cost us much more than we had thought at first.

In order to pay for the past and ongoing medical costs, and to continue to provide these rescues with a clean, safe environment, we must raise $25,000.

Four cats have been adopted into loving, permanent homes, which leaves us with a daunting number to care for, and because adoptions are typically low at this time, we must prepare to care for these cats for quite some time.

PLEASE donate to help maintain a suitable quality of life for these cats.  Here are some of the ways you can help:

  • Volunteer! Volunteer! Volunteer! These cats are in a wonderful TEMPORARY facility in Malibu. We need people to come and pet kitties, clean, drive to and from vets, etc.   We desperately need help caring for the cats both during the week and on weekends.

  • Monthly sponsorship for one of the cats featured in our newsletter.  Any time you like, you can check in on your sponsored darling.

  • Purchasing food (we feed Wellness wet and dry; the best prices are at Red Barn). There are drop off locations in Sherman Oaks, Redondo Beach, Corona, and West LA.

  • Network our kitties (and the other 100+ SCA cats!) to your friends, family and co-workers.  This really works!

  • Foster Homes ! Foster Homes! Foster Homes!
Best of all, we need temporary foster homes –
and permanent homes for these darlings.

Malibu0Not surprisingly, pet companionship, especially with rescued animals, is a win-win situation.  The rewards of providing life-long love and comfort to a pet cannot be over-emphasized.  On that note, I hope you’ll take a couple more minutes to read this recent article from the Minneapolis Star Tribune, which we feature on our website:

Malibu3New Temp HomeStudy Finds Health Benefits To Owning Cats”!

Thank you for helping us at this critical time.
